Rising Thunder is an annual bilateral military training exercise conducted between the United States Army and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). Rising Thunder focuses on combined arms operations integrating maneuver and firepower capabilities. The exercise is conducted at Yakima Training Center in Washington State.
Elements of the 7th Infantry Division will conduct training with elements from the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force at Yakima Training Center, Wash., from December 1 – 17, 2021 as part of Exercise Rising Thunder ‘21, an annual, bilateral combined exercise between the U.S. Army and JGSDF designed to increase interoperability and build combat capability between the two allies.
