    • SEACAT

      Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SECAT) is a multilateral exercise that focuses on maritime security operations. This is the 17th annual SEACAT exercise with navy liaison officers from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States training together and focusing on multilateral maritime security and interdiction scenarios.

    • Search for El Faro

      The Coast Guard and DoD partners search for the missing 790-foot cargo ship El Faro, which disappeared after the crew relayed a distress message reporting the ship lost propulsion and took on water during Hurricane Joaquin off the coast of the Bahamas on Oct. 2, 2015.

      During a ceremony in Detroit, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced the next Arleigh-Burke class destroyer, DDG 120, will be named Carl M. Levin in honor of the longest serving senator in Michigan history.
