USASOC Celebrates its 30th Anniversary<br />

U.S. Army Special Operations Command celebrates its 30th anniversary, Dec. 1, 2019. The U.S. Army established USASOC on Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a major command, days before the start of Operation Just Cause in Panama. USASOC consists of approximately 33,000 Soldiers and Civilians spread across four major subordinate commands, including the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School and the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command, and 75th Ranger Regiment, which is located on Fort Benning, Georgia. Since 1994, the U.S. Army Special Operations Forces Memorial Plaza has resided outside of the U. S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters building and features a memorial wall, 32 memorial stones and statues of two legendary USASOC Soldiers guarding the parade field.
FORT BRAGG, North Carolina – In the past 30 years of U. S. Army Special Operations Command history, 10 American heroes from within its ranks have been awarded the nation’s highest award for valor, the prestigious Medal of Honor.
USASOC rolled out its plans for how it will evolve and maintain the competitive advantage in the battlespace of tomorrow. The Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) Strategy outlines priorities and capabilities in pursuit of the ARSOF Vision, while aligning with the Army's plan to build momentum to modernize capabilities for the future.
