Rising Thunder is an annual bilateral military training exercise conducted between the United States Army and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). Rising Thunder focuses on combined arms operations integrating maneuver and firepower capabilities. The exercise is conducted at Yakima Training Center in Washington State.
Since 1994, the U.S. Army and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) have annually conducted Rising Thunder, an exercise that strengthens the interoperability and readiness amongst both allied nations.
