Forest Light 21 is the latest exercise in its series, focusing on an extensive array of interoperability and lethality training between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. In Forest Light 21, Japanese and U.S. troops will exercise combined amphibious assault skills, integrated command and control, long-range communication and fires, and combine all functions into a cohesive capability to seize and defend key maritime terrain.
