Combat Center pays respects on Memorial DayIn most communities, Memorial Day signifies the beginning of summer, launched into the year with barbecued hamburgers, freshly-sliced watermelon and bathed in emblematic warm weather. However, for the Combat Center and its surrounding community, which are especially saturated in deep-seeded patriotism, this is simply an adjunct affair to the true reason for community gatherings on this solemn day.

Service members from across the reconnaissance community came together aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 15, 2015, to honor their fallen brothers by competing in a series of challenges designed to push even a recon Marine.
