A day of remembrance: Where all gave some, some gave all.Memorial Day is more than a day to thank those who serve. It’s a day to memorialize and recognize the brave men and women who did everything they could for this great country.

Marines seize airfield during trainingAs the helicopter began its descent, Marines inside began to prepare for a quick off-load from the rear. Once on the ground Marines quickly ran from the helicopter towards the encompassing tree line closest to them, before lying down to cover the other Marines still moving into position. Once on the ground they quickly began moving forward to complete the mission: to seize the airfield so expeditionary forces can use the platform during future operations.

Marines clear minefield with a BANG!The trio moved with intensity, the first two slipping the cases from their backs and opening them while the third posted security as they reached the simulated minefield. Together they worked, the rear Marine connecting the white strip of cloth in his box to the identical one in the second while the lead Marine prepared the rocket that would launch the device over the area. The pin is pulled and the Marines retreat into cover just as the rocket launches. For a few seconds a heavy silence falls over the unit and is suddenly torn by the loud explosion of the grenades detonating.


American Veterans Traveling Tribute & Traveling Wall Coming to St. Louis
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will visit St. Louis from June 4-7 with the Traveling Wall. The wall will be on display at Eternal Flame Park. There will be an opening ceremony on Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. with Mayor Francis G. Slay and the Marine Corps Recruiting Station-St. Louis participating.
