VA announces new grants to help end veteran homelessness
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert A. McDonald today announced the award of nearly $93 million in Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) 3-year grants that will help approximately 45,000 homeless and at-risk veterans and their families. The grants will be distributed to 24 nonprofit agencies in 15 communities, with $30 million in awards being distributed to the Los Angeles area.

Atlanta VA Medical Center scientist pioneer in antiviral medications researchValacyclovir, an oral drug commonly used to control the virus that causes genital herpes, appears to reduce the levels of HIV in persons who do not have genital herpes, according to a study by researchers from the National Institutes of Health, Emory University, Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University and the Civic Association of Health and Education in Lima, Peru.
