Fire exclusion has prevailed for over one hundred years in the wilderness of the United States. Rocky Mountain Research Station scientists have put together a framework that shows the long-term and escalating consequences of this practice and make the argument for a return to human-ignited fire for its important ecological and cultural roles in our wilderness.
