NAVAL STATION ROTA, Spain (July 10, 2025)- U.S. Naval Activities Spain/U.S. Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota commanding officer Capt. Charles Chmielak gets behind the microphone at AFN Rota for his inaugural "Morning Joe with the CO" radio show. Joined by Leo Varela and Maribel Siles from NAVSTA Rota Fleet and Family Support Center, Capt. Chmielak discussed Inter-Cultural Relations and language exchange programs offered on base and got some Spanish travel and lifestyle tips. NAVSTA Rota provides U.S., NATO and allied forces a strategic hub for operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. NAVSTA Rota is a force multiplier, capable of promptly deploying and supporting combat-ready forces through land, air, and sea, enabling warfighters and their families, sustaining the fleet and fostering the U.S. and Spanish partnership.
