Defense Media Activities Sasebo made history on June 4, 2025, by becoming the first DoD organization to be approved to broadcast an FM signal in mainland Japan in over 70 years, and USS Springfield (SSN-671) arrived at Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo on May 17, 2025, for a routine port call. The American Forces Network produces and delivers unique, immediate and uninterrupted media services to inform and entertain overseas DoD personnel and families.
