Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert B. Neller released his message to the force titled Execute, January 29th. This week the Commandant is
releasing five separate videos that will talk about the three themes he
wants Marines to focus on this year: Live the Title You've Earned Every Day,
Hone Your Warfighter Mindset, and Lead like you want to be led.
"I need everybody to take the time to read it, and talk about it within your
chain of command. I need our leaders and all our junior leaders to sit down
and discuss the ideas and thoughts that are in this document."
On this day in Marine Corps History in 1991,
The first serious ground fighting of Operation Desert Storm broke out when
Iraqi troops mounted an attack into Saudi Arabia along a 40-mile front.
Iraqi units centered their efforts on Khafji, a port city six miles south of
the border. Saudi and Qatari troops, supported by artillery from the 1st
Marine Division and attack helicopters and other allied coalition aircraft,
recaptured the town two days later.
