A Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Ponce De Leon Inlet in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., rescued six people who were aboard a boat that was in danger of sinking 30 miles east of Ponce Inlet Tuesday, June 10, 2014. William “Billy” Moody used a VHF-FM marine radio to broadcast this mayday call, reporting the recreational boat he was aboard with five other people was flooding, and only gave a partial position but when he activated his Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon it provided responders with complete, precise GPS coordinates.
