President Joachim Gauck visited service members at NATO Base Camp Marmal Dec. 17-19, 2012. Radio Andernach interviewed him during his visit, "I was very impressed that the Army and Soldiers enjoy a very high respect(by the locals)." The president also awarded U.S. aviation units with battle streamers for their contributions to supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, ISAF and RC-North.
