Lead in: the upcoming 22nd annual Bataan memorial death march will honor world war two service members. P-f-c Amanda Russell witnessed the endurance of Guantanamo bay soldiers battling for a place at white sands missile range in march.
Sound bite: “windmill hill, and the last four miles of the ruck, i just wanted to quit. Didn’t think i could do it”
Script: but p-f-c Brandon Cummings did do it. Beginning in darkness, he and other members of the 525th m-p battalion rucked in uniform carrying 35 pounds for almost 15 miles.
Sound bite: “i like volunteering in army competitions that actually mean something.”
Script: after two weekends of tryouts, the top six contestants will compete in the 26.2 mile march in New Mexico.
