The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) provided overwatch for U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, and U.K. forces with 1 Lancaster's, speak with Afghan citizens at the Ismat Bazaar during Operation Oasis Sept. 27. The operation was a two-fold success. The coalition forces collected census data from more than 600 local citizens, which the Afghan government may use to support the economy and business owners. Also, an International Security Assistance Force presence was introduced to the area to deter hostile actions from enemy forces.
