Commander, U-S Naval Forces Central Command and 5th Fleet Vice Admiral Patrick Walsh hosted Bahrain's Crown Prince, His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Nov 28. They discussed the U-S Navy's role in the Middle East, as well as relations between the U-S military and the country of Bahrain. The two also discussed cooperative efforts to help maintain security and stability in the maritime environment. U-S and coalition vessels operate in U-S 5th Fleet's 2.5-million square-mile area of operation conducting Maritime Security Operations to deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
