BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces continue to degrade the Katai'b Hezbollah terrorist network as they captured another high-level network member early Oct. 18, 2008 in Abd ar Rhman, just East of Baghdad.
Acting on intelligence information, coalition forces targeted a key Katai'b Hezbollah administrator assessed to have close ties to the network's leadership.
Coalition forces approached the targeted individual's location where he and an associate were detained without incident.
Katai'b Hezbollah is assessed to be a proxy of Iran and its members are believed to be responsible for recent attacks against Iraqi citizens, the government of Iraq, and coalition forces. The network is also assessed to be responsible for the botched Improvised Rocket Assisted Mortar attack on coalition forces June 4, 2008 that resulted in 18 Iraqi civilians killed, 29 civilians injured, and 19 homes destroyed.
