Just minutes prior to the start of the 8th Annual Vietnam Veterans Survivors and Remembrance Day Program, Mr. Lewis Morant, a member of the South Carolina Combat Veterans Group and a Vietnam veteran, looks over the names of South Carolina soldiers engraved on the Vietnam Wall who were lost during the conflict. Behind him, Simeon Gould, born decades after the end of the war, waits for the proceedings to begin when he will lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Gould is a member of the South Carolina Youth Challenge Academy. This event took place on May 3 at Memorial Park in Columbia, S.C.
