The flag-covered casket of New York Army National Guard 1st Lt. Joseph Theinert, is borne from Our Lady of the Isle Church on Shelter Island, N.Y., before his family, members of the community and military leaders by the New York National Guard Military Forces Honor Guard on Friday, June 11. Theinert was serving on active duty with the Army’s 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan, when he was killed in action by an improvised explosive device on June 4. He was assigned to Troop B, 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry and was age 24 at the time of his death. (Lt. Col. Paul Fanning)
