DPAA personnel and Lao citizens work together on investigations and excavations throughout the country between 30 - 45 days per mission to locate missing personnel. Since 1985, the United States and Lao governments have worked closely together to find and recover unaccounted-for American service members and civilians. There are still 1,578 U.S. personnel missing and unaccounted for from the Vietnam War with 288 of them in Laos. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. David Owsianka)
