Illinois veterans attend a Desert Storm remembrance ceremony at the Illinois State Military Museum Feb. 28, honoring the 18 service members from the state of Illinois who passed away. Brig. Gen. Mark Alessia, Director of the Joint Staff, ILNG, gave opening remarks. Lt. Col. (retired) Renysha Brown, a 28-year veteran of the ILNG, served as the event's keynote speaker. Brown is a combat veteran of two conflicts, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the event, roses were laid by Desert Storm veterans to honor the fallen.
