Heavy equipment operators with Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 hold an AV-8B Harrier suspended in midair as Pfc. Shelton Mariano, a motor vehicle operator with the squadron, directs a trailer underneath it during a training salvage exercise at Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, N.C., Sept. 14. A military ambulance and aircraft rescue firefighters were also involved in the exercise when they showed up on the scene to rescue a pilot from the “crashed” aircraft. When all the services of the support squadron come together, they provide all the services necessary for air support to be successful in theater.
