Sergeant Peter Laurvick, section leader, Combat Engineer Section, Engineer Detachment, Combat Logistics Battalion 15, guides a role-player acting as an American citizen through the checkpoints of an evacuation control center during a non-combatant evacuation operation rehearsal aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., July 24. During the NEO, servicemembers evacuated role-players from a predetermined location. The simulation was part of Composite Training Unit Exercise, a pre-deployment event that evaluates the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group’s ability to conduct integrated military operations at sea and ashore in a realistic training environment.
