Tom Nixon, 83, who worked on the construction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Center Hill Dam that was completed for flood control in 1948, shared memories with employees and other visitors July 21, 2012. From left in background are Nixon’s wife, Dot; son, David; and daughter-in-law, Gloria. Many younger folks don’t remember the flooding that occurred almost annually before the dam was built, according to Nixon.
