International Security Assistance Force and United States Forces – Afghanistan Cmdr. Gen. John R. Allen congratulates U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker after the ambassador received the Honorary Marine title at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters, July 22. The general presided over the ceremony where Crocker received the Honorary Marine title in recognition of his service with and alongside Marines throughout his 41-year career as a U.S. foreign service officer. Approved only by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the honor recognizes individuals in the civilian community who have made extraordinary contributions to the Corps. Nominated by his Marine Security Detachment at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, the ambassador is the 75th recipient of the prestigious title.
