Marine Corps Sgt. Jeffery Gillit, assigned to the Marine Security Detachment at the U.S. embassy in Kabul, pins the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on the newest Honorary Marine, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker, at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters, July 22. Crocker received the Honorary Marine title in recognition of his service with and alongside Marines throughout his 41-year career as a U.S. foreign service officer. Nominated by his Marine Security Detachment, the ambassador is the 75th recipient of the prestigious title.
