Falcons say farewell to brigade commander

The American flag stands tall as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, colors and guidons present arms during the National Anthem at a change of command ceremony July 12. During the ceremony, Col. Timothy J. McAteer relinquished command of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, to Col. Patrick J. Hynes. McAteer commanded 2BCT for more than two years. He deployed with the unit to Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response in 2010 and to Iraq in 2011 in support of Operation New Dawn. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he will be taking part in a year-long Army fellowship at Yale University.
