U.S. Under Secretary of the Army Dr. Joseph W. Westphal pays his respects during a visit to the Chilean Tumba Soldado Desconocido, or Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which helps to commemorate the War of the Pacific more than 100 years ago, which involved Chile, Peru, and Bolivia during a recent visit to the History Museum of Morro de Arica, June 11, 2012 in Arica, Chile. Dr. Westphal participated in the 12th U.S. - Chile Defense Consultative Commission and visited with select Chilean Army units to expand partnership capacity. The U.S. - Chilean defense partnership is focused on a range of initiatives, from disaster response to conducting joint exercises and training.
