An American route clearance patrol moves over a rapidly emplaceable bridge in Zharay district, Afghanistan, May 10. The bridge had just been moved into its final position by engineers. The bridge will allow heavier traffic to move across the wadi system as security improvements are constructed in the area. After the completion of the operation, the bridge will be removed. The dirt bridge beneath it, built for road construction operations, will remain to help farmers move their crops.
