Navy Lt. Laura Barker, a native of Fargo, N.D., and Army Capt. Christopher Sims, a native of Birmingham, Ala., practice suture techniques as part of training May 7. Barker and Sims are assigned to the Forward Surgical Team at Forward Operating Base Wright, which is comprised of members from the Army, Navy and Air Force. The forward surgical team conducts regular training such as this to ensure its members stay sharp with life-saving techniques.
