The commanding officer of Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 23rd Marine Regiment, Maj. Mark Wood, comforts the family of Staff Sgt. Jeremy Smith after they received a Bronze Star on his behalf at Ellington Field Joint Armed Forces Reserve Center, April 14. Smith was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for heroic actions during a tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
