Sgt. John L. Sampson, 27, the force deployment chief with I Marine Expeditionary Force, flips a tire during a fitness challenge at the 21 Area Fitness Center at Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 6. The competition consisted of three one-minute exercises with a one-minute rest between each exercise. The person with the most repetitions overall won.
The first exercise was atomic pushups. The second exercise involved the Marine lifting one end of a tractor tire, flipping it and running to the other side to flip it again. The final of the three exercises was 35-pound ammo-can lifts.
