Staff Sgt. Jacob E. Merrell, an MV-22B crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 561 and a Sisters, Ore., native, aides Shozo Azuma, member of the Japanese House of Representatives, Democratic Party of Japan, and other dignitaries aboard an MV-22B Osprey for Azuma’s first flight, Jan. 19. Japanese dignitaries visited the air station to learn more about the aircraft before 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, based out of Okinawa, Japan, receives its first Osprey.
