Aircraft rescue firefighters conduct training on Ie Shima

IE SHIMA, Japan — Lance Cpl. Alejandro Junco (right) and Lance Cpl. Ethan R. E. Kingsbury (left) train using the “jaws of life” tool during Ryukyu Warrior 12 on Ie Shima Dec. 6. The “jaws of life” tool is used to make entry into the vehicle by cutting or expanding metal. Ryukyu Warrior is an annual training exercise conducted on the island of Ie Shima involving Marines within 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. Junco and Kingsbury are both aircraft rescue firefighters with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Wing Support Group 17, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
