Marines with Recruiting Station Montgomery, Ala., man the pull-up bar at an enhanced area canvassing event at the Iron Bowl, the annual rivalry football game between Auburn University and University of Alabama. During the game, the Marines held a competition to see which school could raise the most toys for the Marine Corps Reserves’ Toy for Tots program and perform the most pull-ups. The competition ended with the University of Alabama being recognized for raising the most toys and Auburn performing the most pull-ups during the first quarter of the game. The award was presented by Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter, a 22 year-old Marine and wounded warrior from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, who was given VIP treatment during game day.
