Soldiers from Company D, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Advise and Assist), “Black Jack,” 1st Cavalry Division, U.S. Division-North, wait for a safety brief before they leave on a counter-indirect fire patrol around Forward Operating Base Cruz – Morris, Iraq, Sept. 9. Company D soldiers performed C-IDF patrols, sentry duty and security operations for the Diyala Operations Center near the base while stationed at FOB Cruz – Morris.
