Terry Canary, of Franklin, Ind., a role-player during a mock nuclear attack, tries to flag down response vehicles from Michigan's 51st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team at Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex in Butlerville, Ind., Aug. 16 during Vibrant Response 12.1. The exercise, conducted by U.S. Army North, is the command's largest disaster response exercise to date. This multi-agency, multi-component exercise is intended to prepare federal military forces for their role in responding to a catastrophic Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear incident in the homeland.
