America's flag was displayed high on a hill overlooking the Walter Reed ARMY Medical Center Closing Ceremony. The hospital, named after Maj. Walter Reed, was recognized for over 100 years of dedicated service in the United States ARMY.
The Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process is merging Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center Bethesda into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, MD. This is the first major medical transition of such a large magnitude in United States military history, and allows Army, Air Force, Navy and civilian medical personnel a historic opportunity to work together as one unit in an effort to provide the best care possible for wounded warriors, military members, retirees and their families.
