Lt. Col. John W. Evans Jr., outgoing commanding officer, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, reminisces about his time with the battalion after relinquishing command to Lt. Col. Justin S. Dunne at Dewey Square on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, June 29, 2011. After assuming command of 2/3 in 2009, Evans led the battalion on a deployment to Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2010 to June 2011. While preparing to assume command of 2/3, Dunne most recently served in 3rd Marine Regiment's operations section.
