Prior to an April 2 ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the 43rd annual Philip A. Connelly awards program in Schaumburg, Ill., Col. (P) Gwen Bingham, commandant of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School and a Troy, Ala., native, presents a letter of congratulations from Gen. George Casey, Chief of Staff of the Army, to Sgt. 1st Class Steve Simon, senior food operations sergeant for the 824th Quartermaster Company (Heavy Airdrop Systems) and a native of Springlake, N.C., along with Command Sgt. Maj. Nathan J. Hunt III, regimental sergeant major of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School and a Pittsburgh, Pa., native. The 824thQM Co., 362nd Quartermaster Battalion, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), out of Fort Bragg, N.C., took first place in the U.S. Army Reserve field kitchen category.
