Cpl. Brandon E. Derenoff, a radio operator with Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, removes a steel rod holding together two pieces of aluminum matting type two, from an inactive flight line on Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, March 29. Once the aluminum matting is removed a permanent runway will be constructed in its place. The Marines of MWSS-272 will move more than 3 million square feet of matting over the next several months as they complete the job. MWSS-272 is deployed out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. in support of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward).
