    II Marine Expeditionary Force

Lance Cpl. Joel T. Farthing, an expeditionary airfield specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, and Cpl. Michael J. Devlin, an aircraft rescue and firefighting Marine with MWSS-272, work together to pull a steel rod holding together two pieces of aluminum matting from an inactive flight line on Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, March 29. Once the aluminum matting is removed a permanent runway will be constructed in its place. The Marines of MWSS-272 will move more than 3 million square feet of matting over the next several months as they complete the job. MWSS-272 is deployed out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. in support of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward).
