This is where a post-tensioning anchor is installed in the concrete at the Chickamauga Lock and Dam in Chattanooga, Tenn., Sept. 29, 2010. The temporary measure is used to stabilize and reduce movement of the concrete lock structure. Cracked concrete reduces stability and produces serious deflections. Since 1995, more than 297 post-tensioning anchors have been installed into the bedrock and capped at Chickamauga Lock.
