Warren Frederick Martin Clemens (ret.) from Melbourne, Australia, speaks about her father's heroism in Guadalcanal during a morning colors ceremony at Headquarters, 1st Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force building here, Sept. 13. The ceremony was held to honor Clemens, who died at age 94, May 31, 2009. Clemens, commander of the British Solomon Islands Defense Force in World War II, and his Melanesian native scouts were vital in providing critical information to the 1st Marine Division about Japanese activity in Guadalcanal.
