Airmen assigned to the 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus Air Force Base, Okla., Blue Knights Base Honor Guard team, attach the Prisoners of War/Missing in Action flag to the base flag pole to tandem fly with the national flag during a POW/MIA ceremony, Sept. 17, while senior leadership watches. The POW/MIA ceremony is held annually to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for their country at the base Wings of Freedom Park. The ceremony takes place during sunrise to help usher in the start of a new dawn … new hope as well as facilitate the electronic display of the names of the military members from Oklahoma still listed as missing in action.
