Col. Michael Goetz watches as SPC Ian Datson holds a tent stake pounder and extractor prototype for SPC Shauna Dool at Fort McCoy, Wis., on Aug. 6. Goetz, commander of the 644 Regional Support Group of Fort Snelling, Minn., came up with the idea for the prototype during a training exercise at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. Datson and Dool, members of the 872nd Maintenance Brigade of Ogden, Utah, built the prototype during Combat Support Training Exercise 2010.
