U.S. Army South Soldiers are briefed by Maj. Gen. Simeon Trombitas, commanding general, Joint Task Force-Haiti, before redeploying from Haiti May 9. This is the first group of Soldiers to return to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, since U.S. Army South replaced XVIII Airborne Corp in March to take control of Operation Unified Response. The departure of these Soldiers May 8 signifies the beginning of the transition to a more traditional SOUTHCOM theater security operation.
