Capt. John Bruening, commodore of Amphibious Squadron 8, left, Capt. Samuel Norton, executive officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau, Col. Thierry Burkhard, commanding officer of the 13th Foreign Legion Demi Brigade, and Capt. Peter Petronzio, commanding officer of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, speak in Nassau's hangar bay. Nassau hosted senior leaders of the 13th Demi Brigade before training exercises with the French Foreign Legion. Nassau is the command platform for the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
