Through night vision goggles Chief Warrant Officer Bert Shober observes chalk one; the lead CH-47F Chinook helicopter while flying into an objective area during a deliberate operation in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan. Rotary-wing assets assist ground forces during deliberate operations by means of air assault; the chinooks insert and extract ground forces at objective areas conducting continued counter-improvised explosive device and counter-insurgency missions.
